As children, toys are one of our most important vehicles to understanding life’s complexities, giving us the opportunity express a vast array of emotions and scenarios. Toys provide a blank canvas for us to interject our own role-playing needs, a mean to solve problems and answer questions… a way to safely explore what sometimes worries and frightens us.
This is the subject of artist David Levintal’s most recent photographic exhibition, entitled Toyland.

Everyone knows tax increases are coming.
But a Wall Street Journal editorial explains that these hikes will be bigger than expected, with taxes on dividends nearly tripling.
Last week, the Senate Budget Committee passed a fiscal 2011 budget that includes a 164 percent increase in the top dividend tax rate to 39.6 percent from 15 percent now.

AP is reporting that John Paul Stevens, the longest-serving justice on the Supreme Court, will retire at the end of this term.
