The latest idea bubbling up in the world of real estate is the use of principal reductions to stem the foreclosure tide, the theory being that if we lower mortgage balances then homeowners will have smaller monthly payments and fewer foreclosures. It sounds great, but don’t look for lenders to gleefully cut mortgage balances anytime soon. In fact, principal additions rather than principal reductions are the rule of the day.

West Hollywood, California (January 28, 2010) Live Nation, Inc. and Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc. announced Monday that they cleared the regulatory hurdles placed before their merger by the Federal government’s anti-trust investigation and shareholders, consummating their partnership.Immediately, the merged entity will bear the name Live Nation Entertainment, Inc.The effect on West Hollywood’s city coffers stands unclear, as Ticketmaster was WeHo’s largest employer and one of its largest tax-payers.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg lobbed a pre-State of the Union surprise for the White House yesterday, reversing course on the administration’s plan to hold the Khalid Shaikh Mohammed trial in a lower Manhattan courthouse. Today, Rep. Peter King (R-NY) introduced legislation that would cut off funds for such a trial.

Mortgage interest rates change as often as two to three times in one day. Securing the lowest rate possible is every borrower’s goal. However, it’s impossible to time the finance market, just as it’s impossible to predict exactly when the housing market will peak or slide.
