The FAIR Education Act will bring classroom instruction into alignment with existing non-discrimination laws in California and would add the LGBT community to the existing list of underrepresented cultural and ethnic groups, which are covered by current law related to inclusion in textbooks and other instructional materials in schools. California is a kinder and gentler state indeed.

Please contact Congress today and ask them to make it clear to the regulators to implement a more reasonable QRM that will keep credit-worthy buyers in the market and able to acquire a loan.

The board of directors’ vote puts NAR one step ahead of Congress, which is considering a change to the Fair Housing Act. The Fair and Inclusive Housing Rights Act of 2010 would prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. It would be the first change to the law since 1988, when handicap and familial status were added as protected classes.

The Senate passed the bill extending eligible closings to Sept. 30, so buyers who were in contract by April 30 can get the tax credit.
