Here’s an email from a concerned citizen of Weho I thought worth posting:
I attended the West Hollywood General Plan 2035 meeting on 7/11/10 in the West Hollywood auditorium.
In my opinion, the General Plan’s outline pays lip service to the level of water & power conservation required by Weho’s level of growth during the General Plan. The General Plan seems NOT to take into account the loss of 20-30% of water in our public holding areas nor are we capable of getting any more power into California, because we are unable to load up more power through Path 15.
*Most folks should be able to remember Path 15 as one of the direct causes of Gov. Davis losing his office.
There are guiding principles to help in the General Plan’s adaption as required by State and Local regulations whose particular figures must be utilized as called for by new laws. Some areas such as Water & Power in the General Plan allow for local municipalities to do what they would like to do in these two areas.
There are a series of meetings coming up and culminating in City Council coming to a final vote somewhere towards October.
Please stress to folks, this is OUR shot to have input into this process.
There are hard copies of the Plan located at City Hall both for perusal and purchase. You may of course get it on line from weho.org in a PDF here.
Thanks for getting this out to our neighbors.
Sincerely,
judson greene
Judson is right, we need to be present when allocating enough manageable growth to match our pull on water and on the power we get from Path 15. – Carlo.
