The League of California Cities is gathering signatures to qualify a ballot initiative aimed at protecting local revenues from another raid of local coffers by the State. This is of utmost importance to Cities, Counties and School districts. As the State attempts to balance its budget, they are eyeing local revenues and are considering another raid. We need to protect our funds; without them, our safety services are in jeopardy and so our local services.

The President’s plan actually pushes back offshore drilling until at least 2012 and blocks drilling in the Pacific Ocean and parts of the Atlantic. He also leaves off limits those portions of the Gulf of Mexico where experts believe there is the most oil and gas.
